The Manifesto
(excerpted from 'A Frank Conversation about Bullying')
Plural community, we need to have a long and hard talk.
Like many other marginalised communities, there is a massive problem with bullying within our community. The levels of gossip, namecalling, social ostracism, manipulation and other forms of social violence have reached completely untenable levels. This needs to seriously stop, and it's about time that the entire community hears this.
Enough is enough.
We are never, ever, ever going to get anywhere near social acceptance if we can't even get along with each other and maintain positive social links. As a community, we need to own this problem, and combat it through nonviolent, open and validating communication that uplifts us all as people, and leads to a greater mutual understanding that creates positive frameworks for increased collaboration in our collective struggle for cultural acceptance.
